The school was constructed. The school was built on Alcott Drive due to the rapid expansion of housing on the south side of Neenah (was known as the Edgewood Area at the time). The school was named after the 30th U.S. President Calvin Coolidge. The names of elementary schools in Neenah was done by the Hawley-Dieckhoff American Legion Post as was the custom at the time. The school building was designed by Edgar A. Stubenrauch and Associates of Sheboygan and cost $355,000 for 6 classrooms, a gym, multi-purpose room and library. The project was expanded to 12 classrooms for a cost of $530,000.
Eight classrooms were opened in February 1963. The school was officially dedicated on April 21, 1963.
An addition was added o the school in 1967/1968.
